As an educator, who has taught, among other things, languages, learning a computer language has been a fascinating experience. Learning Python, one of the most basic and accessible programming languages, brought together the various areas in my life that I am passionate about and experienced in. As a learner trying to put my arms around this new language (and this is NOT like learning Spanish on my own, mind you!), I find myself paying particular attention to the pedagogy (or the lack of) in the various instructional platforms I have encountered. Here, the usual gap between instructors/instruction and learners is shaped by the unique slice of demographics. The interplay of the medium and the message alone is infinitely fascinating and worth investigating.
